G*Power Course — Free Practical Training on Sample Size Determination

Overview

Sample size calculation and statistical power analysis are essential steps in academic research, theses, dissertations, surveys, experiments, and scientific studies. Many researchers face difficulties in deciding how many participants or observations are needed for their study, which may affect the accuracy, reliability, and validity of their results.

This short practical course is designed to introduce participants to G*Power software and help them understand how to calculate sample size, statistical power, effect size, and significance level for different types of statistical tests.

The course focuses on practical application, using real research examples to guide participants step by step from selecting the correct test to interpreting the required sample size for their research projects.

Objective

The main objective of this course is to help participants use G*Power confidently for calculating sample size and conducting power analysis in academic and applied research.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to select the appropriate statistical test, define effect size, set alpha level and power, calculate the required sample size, and interpret G*Power results for theses, dissertations, research papers, and institutional studies.

Training Skills Acquired

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the basic concept of statistical power.
  • Understand sample size calculation and its importance in research.
  • Use GPower software practically.
  • Identify the correct statistical test for power analysis.
  • Understand alpha level, power, effect size, and sample size.
  • Calculate sample size for t-tests.
  • Calculate sample size for correlation and regression studies.
  • Calculate sample size for ANOVA and group comparison studies.
  • Interpret GPower outputs correctly.
  • Apply G*Power results in research proposals, theses, dissertations, and academic papers.
