Unemployment is an economic indicator that refers to the number or proportion of people in an economy who are willing and able to work, but are unable to get a job; a person in this situation is said to be unemployed. People who are not willing or able to work, for whatever reason, are “economically inactive” and do not count towards unemployment figures. Erbil represents as the most important city in the north of Iraq and Kurdistan because of many factors such as security, economic development, political situations, geographical placement, etc. It is very interesting to know the percentage of unemployment for general and private sectors according to some socio-demographic factors. Depending on recent survey conducted by SOSS, approximately 3.2% of Erbil citizen are unemployed. This percentage is an excellent rate for unemployment in developed countries. The reason of low percentage of unemployment is due to development of international trades, huge investment in big residential projects, increasing the amount of tourists, increasing the number of foreign businesses, etc.
