IDPs and the Host Communities Perceptions in Iraq

Statistics Organization for Society Support (SOSS) and the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) have signed a contract to collect data through personal interviews (CAPI Survey / Face to Face interviews through tablets). Within the governorates of Nineveh and Duhok, the surveyed areas were separated into 20 geographical zones connected to IDPs in camps and the host community surrounding those camps.

The primary goal of the data collection was to provide GPPi with more than 500 interviews to understand perceptions of people affected by conflict on the conflict sensitivity of the activities of the World Food Programme (WFP) and their influence on social cohesion and peace. Under the guidance of SOSS and GPPi, a two-day training course was held in November 2021 to assure standardization, understanding, and logistical feasibility and contingencies.

The survey was then commenced and interviews began in the same month by SOSS teams. The team was consisted of a team leader, two supervisors, twelve enumerators, four standby enumerators, data checker, liaison officer, and a translator for translating open-ended questions. The duration of the field survey was approximately 12 working days. SOSS used tablets and mobile devices to collect data via Mobile Data Collection (MDC). The team conducted 584 interviews in all.
